Sprint 6 Finish Prototypes and Decisions 10/2/2018 -10/6/2018
Lets talk: Meetings!
Meetings:
10/2 We planned for our mini-sprint as this will be the time to finish up our prototype for Last Rights, and it will be time to decide what game we go forward with.
10/4 Final check-in and prep for QA the same day, mostly everything is done so not much to say about this one.

10/6 Decision time. The QA results are in, the team has been debating in the small little coffee shop for an hour oh boy what did we choose?
Lets Talk: What I did!
The Prototype: Last Rights Prototype is done finally, it's not pretty, but it is done.

The Decision: This wasn't an easy choice, all of our ideas were considered viable and the ideas were all liked by the team. The Following are the order in which we removed them from consideration (much like how employers pass on potential employees).
Why not This Side Up?
The simple answer is that it was just too simple. Our Prof. said that their was a lot more we could have explored for mechanics, and more we could delve into. He isn't wrong, however, Josh (the Lead Designer) said it best. I'd Rather have depth of mechanical play rather than overly complicating the core gameplay.

That's the biggest problem for this game. doesn't feel like a capstone game, and their isn't all that much to design. so for those reasons This Side Up is This Side Out (god that was horrible).
The First Casualty: This Side Up

The Second Casualty: DSV: Valiant

Why not DSV: Valiant?
This one is a bit interesting, It is definitely large enough in scope actually, it is probably too big. However, the scope wasn't the only reason, it wasn't even the primary reason. Nor was the fact that graphics is a pain in the ass (even though it is). The story was probably the most cool of all of them, even if it did push our scope a bit much.

No, it's quite simple really. The core gameplay is move ship. It's a glorified walking simulator, and frankly not very fun. Overall the gameplay wasn't working for us and it had to be cut. DSV: Valiant? More like DSV: Done..... I did it again I know I am sorry.
The Winner! Last Rights!
Why Last Rights?
Long story short, everyone wants to work on it. It was the only the only one with no real complaints, and the scope of the project is manageable, and the core gameplay is fun. It also gives everyone things to do.
The lead producer can to market analysis and sales figures, the lead artist has no shortage of assets, the lead designer has the level, backstory and much more, I have networking and abilities to program. It can showcase all of our talents and abilities.

Phrase of the Week!
Last Rights is right of us.
